Chandigarh Oct.02, 2020:-A strong and huge protest was organised today by hundreds of Congress workers under the leadership of Chandigarh Congress President Pardeep Chhabra in which the Congress workers started their protest march towards BJP headquarters from Sector 34. The protesting Congress workers were stopped by Chandigarh Police which had put up barricading. Chhabra said that yesterday former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had been stopped by UP police near UP-Delhi border when they had gone to meet the family of Hathras rape & murder victim. When Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had started walking towards Hathras and said that they will go alone in wake of Section 144 imposition in Hathras, even then they were manhandled by Uttar Pradesh cops of Yogi Adityanath in which Rahul Gandhi fell and was injured and finally arrested along with Congress workers. Raising serious questions on the misgovernance and failures of Ajay Singh Bisht alias Yogi Adityanath's government and Uttar Pradesh police, Chhabra said that first the victim was not given security and police assistance, then there was unduly long delay in registration of FIR and action, and also even after the death of the victim Dalit girl, the family was denied the right to cremation of their daughter when the body of the victim was hastily burnt on funeral pyre at middle of night by UP cops. Chandigarh Congress questioned the manner in which the village of victim has been sealed and turned into a fortress where even Media channels are not bein allowed to enter and help them raise the voice of the victim's family. Is there Jungleraaj now in Uttar Pradesh and what is Yogi government trying to hide from public view, questioned Chhabra. Chhabra said that the worst scene of today was when a young boy from victim's family came running scared from the fields to plead to media to help raise their voice and save them from pressure by government and police. The young boy informed that their family men are being beaten, phones snatched and whole house has been sorrounded by police, which shows how things are being shoved under the carpet in Uttar Pardesh's jungleraaj under Yogi Adityanath. Chhabra said that our leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and every Congress worker is standing steadfast in support of all women of India and others who need their voice to be raised. Chhabra said that Modi and Yogi should not forget that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are the grandchildren of Indira Gandhi and children of Rajiv Gandhi who have a history of sacrificing even their lives in support of Indians. He said that no Congress leader or worker will ever be cowed down or kept silent by intimidation by the fascist and divisive forces. During today's protest water canons and lathis were used on the protesting Congress workers and leaders in which Chandigarh Congress President Pardeep Chhabra along with Vishal Attri, Prempal Chauhan youth congress president love kumar,and Mahila workers like Premlata, Pammi and many others were injured and needed hospitalisation & stitches. The Congress leaders also raised the questions on the silence of Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher, Mayor Rajbala Malik and even leaders like Smriti Irani and other Mahila leaders of BJP on the contentious issue of brutal rape and murder of India's daughters in Hathras and many other cities of Uttar Pradesh and abject failure of Yogi Adityanath government in ensuring justice or even proper cremation to victims.
