Governor Inaugurates Audio Guide at Government Museum

Chandigarh 03rd April:- Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh V.P. Singh Badnore, today inaugurated the Audio Guide at the Government Museum and Art gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh in the presence of Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration, Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Smt. Kriti Garg, Director Museum and Art Gallery, Manoj Arora, Director, PEC University, Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, Chandigarh Administration,  S.D. Sharma, Senior most Architect and other officials of the Chandigarh Administration.

The students of PEC University Chandigarh developed the Audio Guide with 25 stops lasting to 45 minutes, which offers the visitors high quality audio at very modest price. The audio can be selected in three languages: English, Hindi and Punjabi as desired by the visitors.

V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh addressing the gathering expressed his happiness over commendable work done by the faculty members and students of PEC University and Chandigarh College of Architecture by getting the audio guide ready in minimal cost and in short duration. He expressed his happiness that the museums in Chandigarh have also now adopted the audio guide system. He further added that it has been a pleasure to see that the students of the city colleges and university are being involved in such projects.

The audio guide has 25 stops, the aim while selecting the objects has been to highlight the strengths of the museum and make the visitors engage with some of the important artworks of the museum. The sections covered are textile, metal sculpture, stone sculpture with emphasis on Gandhara sculptures, miniature painting and Indian contemporary art.

The audio guide is available on a player at the museum. The technical inputs have been given by the students of PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh. The map of the audio tour has been developed by the students of Chandigarh College of Architecture for the same. The voiceovers for the audio guide have been provided by Sanjiv Dosajh in English, Puneeta Bawa in Hindi and Komal Saini Pathak in Punjabi.

The museum holds a substantial collection of antiques and Indian contemporary art. The renowned collection of Gandhara sculptures and Pahari miniature have put the museum on the tourist map of art connoisseurs.
