MCM Organizes Lecture on 'Aristotle;Concept of 'Equality and Friendship' and 'Culture and Literature'

Chandigarh 31st March:-   The Department of Philosophy of MCM DAV College for Women organized an Indian Council of Philosophical Research sponsored lecture on 'Aristotle; Concept of Equality and Friendship'.

Dr. Lallan Singh Baghel, Chairperson, Department of Philosophy, PU lucidly elaborated the philosophy of Aristotle on the complex concepts of Equality and Friendship. Sharing relevant examples of the inequality prevalent in our society and briefing about the underlying causes of all sorts of discrimination, Dr. Lallan Singh Baghel reiterated that there exists an intrinsic relationship between truth, justice and equality. Apprising the students of Aristotle's point of view on friendship, Dr. Lallan Singh Baghel explained the two important principles of friendship i.e. mutual trust and integrity. The students listened in rapt attention to Dr. Lallan Singh Baghel's highly engrossing lecture. A skit on the concept of friendship was also enacted by the students of the department.

In another event, the Punjabi Department of the college conducted an interactive session with noted Punjabi author and playwright Prof. Kirpal Kazak on culture and literature. During this highly informative session, Prof. Kirpal exemplified the way various cultural arte  facts condition the human mind and also elaborated on the importance of decoding them in order to develop a better understanding of these and discarding the ones which are not progressive. Recounting the superiority of literature over other media, Prof. Kirpal said that literature affords us creative and intellectual liberty where we can deconstruct and reconstruct literature.

Lauding these appreciable endeavours of both the departments, Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava reiterated that through such interactions, MCM aims to contribute to the holistic growth of students who can develop mature perspective and deeper understanding of varied issues.
