Chandigarh 20th October:- Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, Sector-42D, a premier institute providing hospitality education, under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is organising a two day Flower Arrangement Workshop in the Institute premises.

The workshop is being facilitated by Nandita Chaturvedi, Resource Person from "The All India Kitchen Garden Association, New Delhi." Around 400 participants including students and faculty members from various hospitality institutes in different parts of the country attended the workshop. The workshop strives to impart the knowledge and skills of designing floral arrangements and to inculcate the significance of bottle gardening and water landscapes.

The first day of the workshop commenced with the inauguration and lamp lighting ceremony. As the event progressed, the participants were spellbound when Nandita  Chaturvedi showcased her impeccable art of crafting various floral forms using the Principles of flower arrangement. Some of the creations included S-shaped, oval shaped, cascade flower arrangements made up of flowers like Anthurium, Oriental lilies, Carnations, etc.

Nandita Chaturvedi said that the fragrance of flowers and artistic skill with creative approach gives spiritual as well as aesthetic pleasure to the viewers. The flowers do not look like flowers but art.

The attention given to the choice of plant, material and container, the placement of branches, and the relationship of the branches to the container and the surrounding space, has distinguished this art from simply decorative uses of flowers.

Bharti Tyagi, Principal of the AIHM, said that the workshop will aim at exploring floral creativity and designs and encourage the students and faculty members to come together on a common platform and exchange various ideas and concepts. This will definitely help them to boost their knowledge and skills.

The workshop will continue tomorrow where more floral creations and techniques of bottle gardening will be demonstrated.
