Madan Mohan Mittal Starts Distribution of Free Cycles to 2214 Students under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme

Chandigarh 04th August:- Under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme, free cycles has been distributed to 4 lacs 82 thousand 703 girl students in Punjab and this distribution of cycles will be continued in future too. This was stated by Minister for Industry & Commerce Punjab Madan Mohan Mittal while addressing a district level program at Auditorium of Shivalik Public School, organised here for distribution of free cycles to girl students of class 11th & 12th under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme. During this free cycles were distributed to 241 girl students of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School Sohana & Govt. Model Senior Secondary School 3 B 1 Mohali.

Madan Mohan Mittal said that under the immense leadership of CM Punjab Parkash Singh Badal, the scheme named Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme was initiated during 2011-12 to provide free cycles to girl students of class 11th & 12th in Punjab, which is being continued in the state till then. He said that positive results of this initiative have been noticed as girls have gained confidence towards higher education. He said that earlier it was a challenge for girl students to continue their studies after basic schooling due to lack of commuting means. But now with the facility of cycles for commuting, the presence of girl students has increased and scenario of girl education has improved in the state.

Madan Mohan Mittal said that excitement towards education is necessary for woman empowerment and this historic decision of Punjab Govt. has done the same. He said that it will also give a new direction to the society. During this while addressing the students he said that Punjab Govt. is doing each and every effort to improve the level of girl education in the state.

Later, addressing the press, he said that State Govt. is encouraging foreign investment in the state. He said that industrial sector of the state has been benefitted for Rs. 200 crore per month by waiving of the surcharge to Rs. 2 per unit. Addressing a question regarding Aam Adami Party he said that this Party has no value for people & not for the constitution of India and Aam Adami Party has no significance in Punjab.

Addressing the gathering Chairperson Zila Parishad Bibi Paramjit Kaur Badali said that SAD+BJP Govt. has always done extra efforts towards women and providing free cycles is a part of these efforts. During this she also explained about the various welfare schemes initiated by Govt. 

Deputy Commissioner D.S.Mangat said that under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme free cycles worth Rs. 2 crore 80 lacs has been distributed to 10403 girl students of class 11th & 12th. Besides this the infrastructure of Govt. schools is also being improved.
