Sarvesh Kaushal Reviews Service Sewa Kendras at Lohgarh, Zirakpur

Chandigarh 26th July:- With rapid economic development and exposure to global practices, citizens today in Punjab expect an easy, efficient and equitable service delivery mechanism from government entities. In keeping with emerging realities of services delivery, Punjab Government intends to bolster its service delivery infrastructure through introduction of sewa kendras. In line with above, the State Government intends to bring in a paradigm shift that would redefine the contours of service delivery mechanism in the State for decades to come. Sewa kendras will be one stop shop to avail the entire gamut of citizen centric services of all the departments under one roof. This was stated by Chief Secretary to Govt. of Punjab Sarvesh Kaushal while reviewing the Service Delivery centre at Lohgarh (Zirakpur) along with Chief Parliamentary Secretary N. K. Sharma. He said that the formal inauguration/ launch of this service delivery centre will be done on 29 July by Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbeer Singh Badal.

Sarvesh Kaushal said that Govt. of Punjab has established 1758 rural and 389 urban Sewa kendras which would facilitate delivery of services covered under the ambit of RIGHT TO SERVICES ACT relating to various departments of Punjab Government. Services covered under the ambit of RTS would be delivered through Sewa kendras in phased manner. As such, in the first phase 389 Sewa Kendras will be made operational to public. He said that these Sewa Kendras will be of three types wherein Type 1 will be having 7 counters, Type 2 will consists 4 counters & Type 3 Sewa Kendera will be having 2 counters. He said that initially these Sewa Kendras will be made operational on trial basis and before 15th August these Sewa Kendras will be made fully operational.

These Sewa kendras are equipped with state of art amenities for citizens. The Computing Infrastructure including desktops, printers, scanners and broadband connectivity etc have been installed in Urban sewa kendras. Manpower has been recruited for urban Sewa kendras including computer operators, runners, centre heads and others for managing Sewa Kendra Operations at District and State level. The training of the manpower has also been completed to handle the service delivery of citizen services. The manpower is being given special training on soft skills including citizen interaction skills. New software has been developed for integration with web suvidha and E-District Projects.

 Type 2 Sewa kendras have been constructed with standardized design and architecture and have been equipped with Diesel Generator sets, Power Back-up, Air Conditioners, Token Machines, LCD displays, CCTVs, Biometric devices ,Digital Slates etc to enable the citizens to apply for the citizen services in a trouble free manner. The services will be delivered using Special software which integrates web Suwidha, eDistrict and also other services under Right to Service Act.

He said that state already has completed backend automation of 51 citizens services under eDistrict project and has been rated as one of the best project in the country by Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. In future, most of the 351 services under Right to Service Act Punjab shall be delivered through Sewa kendras.
