State Child Protection Society organizes State Orientation Programme on Track Child Portal

Chandigarh 27^th June:- The State Child Protection Society (SCPS) under Union Territory Child Protection Society (UTCPS) under the aegis of Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Women and Child Development organized a one Day State Orientation Programme on Track Child Portal at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Public Administration, Sector 26, Chandigarh for stakeholders in child protection namely Child welfare committee, Juvenile justice board, Special juvenile Police Unit, District child protection society and staff of child care institutions. The workshop was attended by over 45 participants from stakeholders like Staff of Children Homes, District child protection society, special juvenile police unit, child welfare committee, jubneile justice board, State child protection society (SCPS) and District Child protection Unit (DCPU).

Ministry Of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, namely the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) since 2009-10 under which mechanism has been created for tracking 'missing' and 'found' children under ICPS in the form of Track the Missing Child Portal. Also under the new Juvenile Justice Act 2015, it has been made mandatory to upload information regarding any missing/abandoned/lost/orphan children by the uploading the details on a portal by concerned agency. The Government of India has also launched Khoya Paya portal where any parent whose child is missing can update information which will be shared with the cops and authorities in real time. Anyone in the country can also update information on any missing children they are aware of.

The session began with introduction to course objectives of the program which was followed by an Orientation session on Track child by Chandkiran Chocker, System Analyst, National informatics centre, MWCD Division. He gave an overview on track child portal 2.0 and explained that the purpose of the portal is to track the missing children, ultimate repatriation of missing children & proper care and development of vulnerable children etc. This was followed by a orientation session on Khoya paya portal by Sheshnath Yadav, Moderator, khoya paya portal and Chandnkiran Chocker, NIC who explained that theportal is basically a platform for citizens wherein information on missing/found children can be entered by the citizens.

The session was followed by screening of inspirational movie-Faristhey, made by UTCPS to create awareness on child labor and foster care issues.

Another important session was conducted on Matching of children where it was explained to participants how to search for profiles and do matching for missing and found children. It was explained that once a probable match is found the profile can be selected and that information goes to police(CID) for final matching.

This was followed by a hands-on-session on How to use the track child portal for all stakeholders. Each stakeholder agency was required to carry their registration username information on the portal and live training was provided on the same. In the end an open house session was conducted to address queries and challenges on operation.
