Review Meeting Held for Smart City Proposal

Chandigarh 22nd March:- In a meeting held today at U.T guest house under the chairmanship of  Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh revised proposal regarding the Smart City proposal was discussed in detail. The French delegation along with senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration was also present in the meeting.

The meeting focused at taking inputs from the delegation and officers that could help in creating a strong and effective smart city proposal which is likely to be submitted before 15th April 2016 to the MoUD. The presentation was shown by AIECOM that encompassed all the information about the proposal.

The discussion aimed at improving the quality of life of the citizens of City Beautiful. Positive and negative aspects were taken into consideration for making the City smart. It was shared that the City is the centre of active lifestyles; test bed for start ups, has unique historical background and has progressive future.

The urban development system was also discussed during the meeting wherein a presentation was showcased by the Transport Department. Further to this, the French delegation was given a brief about the steps taken to develop a modern transport system. Different transport modes like PRT and LRT were discussed to improve the transport system of the city.

The Adviser to the Administrator stressed upon bringing out best solutions that could suit the local conditions. He emphasized that the proposal should be such the people feel it and embrace it wholeheartedly.

Sarvjit Singh, Finance Secretary, Anurag Agarwal, UT Home Secretary-cum-State Mission Director, (Smart City Mission), Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP, Jitender Yadav, Commissioner, Excise and Taxation, Maneesh Chaudhary, SSP Traffic, Bhupesh Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner, MC-cum-Nodal Officer Smart City, Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, and Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, were also present during the meeting.
