MCM organizes Workshop on Safety and Health in Working Environment

Chandigarh 01^st March:- The Botany department of MCM DAV College for Women organized a workshop on safety and Health in working environment, as per UGC directive. Dr. Prince Sharma, Professor, Department of Microbiology, Panjab University conducted the workshop.

The aim of the workshop was to sensitize the students under the programme - Occupational Safety and Health administration, (OSHA) the mission of which is to assure safe and healthy working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach and assistance. Dr. Prince made the audience aware of the rights under OSHA and the procedure of making complaints regarding safety concerns at workplace.  The expert also answered the queries of the audience in an interactive session, where he talked about antibiotics, pesticide problem and GM crops.

MCM Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated this initiative of the botany department to create awareness about occupational safety and health; adding that we should prioritize our safety and health and strive for a healthy environment.
