Chandigarh 02nd March:- In a commemorative event, MCM DAV College For Women paid rich tributes to great philosopher, social reformer and founder of Arya Samaj- Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati.
The Sanskrit Department of the college organized Sanskrit Utsav on the occasion. Dr. Veena Kapoor, UGC Emeritus Fellow, Sanskrit Department, PU delivered an inspiring lecture that shed light on the life and contributions of Swami Dayanand. Dr. Veena said that Swami ji worked ceaselessly for creating an enlightened society with his teachings that were rooted in tradition and contemporary in approach. A book exhibition on vedic and Sanskrit literature was also a part of the event. Slogan writing competition on Swami Dayanand was also held which received as many as 50 entries. Neha was adjudged 1st while Pavi and Rajni secured 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively in the competition.
Dr. Nisha Bhargava, MCM Principal, appreciated the effort of Sanskrit Department to make the youth aware of the teachings of Swamiji who sacrificed everything for the emancipation of mankind. She further exhorted the youth to imbibe Swamiji's teachings in their lives as they hold relevance even today.
