Kiran Choudhry Demands Cut in Petrol & Diesel Prices

By 121 News

Chandigarh 21st January:- Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP), has asked the Central Government to stop filling its coffers and immediately slash down the prices of petrol and diesel in sync with the dip in the global prices of crude oil to give the common man the much needed relief.

In a statement issued here today, the former Excise and Taxation Minister said the price of crude oil had crashed down to $27 per barrel, even lower than the January 2003 level of $30/barrel. In 2003, the price of petrol ranged between Rs 30 and Rs 32 per litre, and that of diesel between Rs 19 and Rs 20 per litre.

She quipped that this shows how much money the BJP Government at the Centre is mopping up on account of oil at the cost of the man in the street. Looks, ache din have come for the government and the oil refineries, not for the common man who had been given the promise.

Kiran Choudhry said that since the BJP Government took charge in 2014, global oil price had come down by more than 72.21 per cent. But instead of passing the benefit to the consumers, the government has burdened the common man with frequent increases in the excise duty on petrol and diesel which proved its anti-people stance.
