Shruti Choudhry asks CM to Speed up Work on Medical College in Bhiwani

By 121 News

Chandigarh 24th December:-Shruti Choudhry, former Member of Parliament, Bhiwani-Mahendergarh, met the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, and impressed upon him the need to speed up work on Ch. Bansi Lal Medical College and a solid waste management plant in Bhiwani. A medical college for Bhiwani had been approved by the UPA Government. Now, the BJP Government wants to take it to Prem Nagar, which is 10 kms away from Bhiwani.

In a statement issued here today, the former MP said that she urged the Chief Minister to speed up work on setting up medical college in Bhiwani. She told to him that plenty of land is available on Dadri road in Bhiwani, which is government land and is presently used as a dumping yard. So, the medical college should be set up on this land which is very near to the city. Taking this college to Prem Nagar will not serve the purpose for which it is made as it should benefit the entire area. It should be established in Bhiwani, which is the district head-quarter, instead of taking it to Prem Nagar. She also discussed the issue of setting up of a solid waste management project in Bhiwani and handed over a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.

In her letter, Shruti Choudhry stated that during her term as MP, the Haryana Government had forwarded a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Rs 4.4-crore Solid Waste Management Plant in Bhiwani town to the Union Ministry of Urban Development in 2012, and a revised DPR was sent in 2014. But approval could not be obtained due to enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in March, 2014.

She has requested the Chief Minister to look into the matter personally and take up the case with the Union Government for necessary approval of the revised DPR and release of funds to the state government to facilitate setting up the project in Bhiwani town under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns  (UIDSSMT). 'Swachh Bharat' can only be accomplished if such solid waste management plants are put in action at the earliest.
