Power Men Firm to Hold one Day Strike on 8th December,2015

Chandigarh 02^nd December:-The strike call given by the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees & Engineers on 8^th Dec 2015, the Electricity Employees of Chandigarh under the banner of UT Power Men Union Chandigarh today held gate meeting before the Electricity Office/Sector 15 Chandigarh.

Gopal Datt Joshi, General Secretary Union & Working Committee member Electricity Employees Federation of India while addressing the rally strongly critises the privatization policy of the Government of India and said that this strike is being held for the Withdrawal of "Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014", Ensure Power to all at affordable rates, No Contractualisation on the work of permanent/perennial nature and payment of wages and benefits to the contract workers equal to regular workers, Fixation of the statutory minimum wages Rs. 15000/- P.M, Remove all ceiling on payment and eligibility of Bonus, Provident Fund, Increase the quantum of gratuity, Stoppage of dismastment of public sector units and nationalize the natural resources of our country.

Vijay Singh Vice president and Amrik Singh Organizing Secretary in his remark also criticise the anti Employees and negative attitude of Chandigarh Administration towards the most genuine long pending demands of the Employees and blamed that despite Assurances as given by the Chief Engineer most of the Demands are still remain unresolved and said that the demands which needs immediate implementation are Withdrawal the proposal to corporatize the well running U.T. Electricity department, Filling up the vacant posts of promotional & direct quota, Offer to appointment to the next kin of deceased employees by scrapping 50% ceiling on the pattern of PSPCL as per nature of duties  of grant of special pension on the basis of notional pay, Removal of pay Anomalies by stepping up pay of senior employees with their Juniors (case of ALMS), Amendments in Recruitment Rules in consultation with union, Renovation of houses of Electricity colonies as per revised norms by providing  sufficient budget.

 The speakers appeal the Employees & Engineers to make the 08. Dec.2015 strike and grand Success so as to compel the government to withdraw the Electricity Amendment Bill, 2014.
