Chandigarh 08th November:- Glaucoma Support Group, Advanced Eye Center Chandigarh Organized a musical evening to spread public awareness about glaucoma and to recognize and appreciate the role played by family members of glaucoma patients in preventing glaucoma related blindness, as family members are usually the primary care givers in most cases. Glaucoma, like many other chronic diseases, is known to have financial, social and psychological impact not only on affected individuals but on entire families.
This was an unique event in which glaucoma patients and their families were invited to learn more about glaucoma as well to enjoy a musical concert. "The idea is to educate and empower family members of glaucoma patients so that they understand the problems associated with glaucoma better and also act as ambassadors to spread awareness". Dr. S S Pandav, also highlighted the fact that prevalence of glaucoma is 3 to 10 times more in blood related family members. Emphasizing the need for regular checkups. Dr. S S Pandav and Dr. Sushmita Kaushik educated the audience about glaucoma.
The audience saw mesmerizing performances by Pt. Subhas Ghos, Dr. Archana Bhardwaj and a dance group led my Miss Sunidhi. Pt. Subhas Ghos enthralled the audience with Fusion music. Bollywood actor Sanjay Gajria anchored the event. Prof Y K Chawla was the chief guest and Dr. Neelam Mansingh Chaudhry graced the occasion as Guest of Honor.
