Adviser Flags Off ASSOCHAM’S Academic Delegation to Canada

Chandigarh 20^th November:- The  Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Vijay Dev,  today flagged off a 16 member delegation to Canada. The delegation in the 10 day stay would work for the academic and strategic educational collaboration between two countries. Vijay Dev, while extending his good wishes to the delegation said that the education system needs a paradigm shift. The focus should be on introducing skill development in the education system and capacity building, making them fit for employment both home and overseas.

Sharing that an academic delegation of ASSOCHAM (Associated Chamber of Commerce of India), Chandigarh region is visiting Ontario Region, Canada starting tomorrow, Dalip Sharma, Director, ASSOCHAM said that this visit is initiated considering the need of understanding the technology & teaching progress and upcoming inventions which would be of immense help to Indian education & research industry. During this visit, we plan to arrange the visit of the Indian delegation to various reputed campuses, interaction with faculty members to understand the research work, exam pattern, evaluation techniques, teaching techniques etc. He added that the ASSOCHAM lead 16 member Academic Delegation would be the harbinger of galvanizing high-impact educational collaborations between educational entities in India on the one hand and those in Canada on the other", said Sharma while sharing the mission of building and strengthening bilateral education linkages between India and Canada.

The delegation would be visiting  & meeting Minister of Education Ontario, University of Ottawa, Carlton University, University of Toronto, Ryerson University,Indian High Commissioner to Canada, Algonquin College,Association of Community colleges and institutes,Ontario Centre of Excellence, Counsel of Ontario Universities, MARS( Incubation Centre), Sheridan College, Indo- Canada Chamber of Commerce, Brampton Trade Board, MPP of Ontario: Vic Dhillion, Harinder  Malhi , MP : Ramesh Sangha, Sonia Sidhu among others.

Adding further, Dalip Sharma said that Canada and India complement each other and can become significantly more important partners in enhancing the Education contours. The rapidly changing global economy provides an excellent opportunity for Canada and India to capitalize on our growing bilateral trade relations and our strong people-to-people ties. We can leverage these changes to stimulate economic growth and job creation, he said It is the need of the hour to have more and more exchange of industry and association delegations, focused and continuous interactions besides regular exchange programmes. Dalip Sharma said that Such interactions are important to facilitate scalability. Indian institutes are increasingly adopting multi campus model wherein these collaborations come in handy. Foreign players can enter the market through joint ventures with Indian players and help in increasing affordability and growing demand for quality education."
