Farmers to Get 9000 Quintal Wheat Seed at 50 % Subsidy:DC

Chandigarh 20th October:- To facilitate the farmers in SAS Nagar District, 9000 quintal certified wheat seed at 50 % subsidy will be provided by the govt. As such, interested farmers could submit their requisition applications by 26 October at office of block agriculture officers. Stating this deputy commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that to facilitate the farmers, state govt. has ensured all requisite arrangement to provide wheat seed at subsidized rates.

Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that subsidy equals to the 50 % of total cost of seeds or to a maximum of Rs. 1000 per quintal will be directly transferred to the bank account of the applicant farmer and subsidy on wheat seed will be provided for maximum of 5 acre area. He said that priority for providing subsidized seeds will be given to farmers having 2.5 acres area, than after farmers having cultivable area 5 acres will get the subsidized seed. Then after remaining seeds will be provided to the farmers having cultivable area more than 5 acres. He said that to get the subsidized wheat seed, performa as prescribed can be downloaded from department's website i.e. www.agripb.gov.in Application in his regard, should be attested by village Sarpanch/ Nambardar/ MC. He said that for efficient distribution of subsidized wheat seeds, each block will have five centers, the number of which could be increased if felt so. He said that Block Agriculture Officer will issue the permits only to the eligible farmers. He said that the eligible applicants will get permit from the concerned block agriculture office by 30 October. In case if application received are more in numbers than there will be draw for deciding the issuance of permits. The entire draw will be carried put under video-graphy. He said that subsidy will be provided to the farmers on certified seeds i.e. HD 3086, PBW677, WH1105, HD2967, PBW621, DBW17, PBW550, PBW658, PBW590, PBW 660 & PBW644. Sh. Sidhu said that sufficient supply of manure & urea will be ensured during the season. During this season, 7500 ton urea fro sowing the wheat & 17000 ton for wheat crop will be made available to facilitate the farmers.

During this, Chief Agriculture officer Dr. Sukhdev Singh Brar said that relevant arrangements for providing subsidized wheat seeds have been ensured.
