Seminar on Risk, Science and Society- “A perspective on Development of Regulations” at MCM

Chandigarh 02nd September:- The Microbial and Food Technology Department of MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized an interactive session with Dr. Jasvir Singh, AVP and Head, Scientific, Regulatory Affairs and Nutrition, Mondelez International (erstwhile Cadbury India Ltd.) on Risk, Science and Society- "A perspective on Development of Regulations".

Dr. Jasvir Singh discussed about the complexity of journey of food safety and elaborated on how risk analysis is done at various levels. He explained about how regulatory decisions are made along with various models like Technocratic model, Decisionist model and Red book model. He guided the students regarding the role they can play in development of safe food products.

During the course of discussion, the enthusiastic students posed various queries, viz., the role they can play in improving food standards and contamination related problems. Dr Jasvir Singh motivated the students and also advised students to develop a positive attitude to revolutionize the food industry.

Principal of MCM, Ms Neena Dhawan, applauded the efforts of Dept of Food Science for updating the students on current trends in Food Regulations and Safety. She encouraged to bridge gap between academics and industry by regularly organizing such intellectually fruitful events.
