Pendu Sangharsh Committee Holds Dharna: Villagers from 23 Villages Took Part

Chandigarh 05th August:- Pendu Sangharsh Committee Chandigarh a massive Dharna was staged at Sector 17, Chandigarh, in which thousands of rural people came to attend and participate in jathas and processions, while chanting slogans in support of their various genuine and justified demands from all the 23 villages of U. T. Chandigarh with great enthusiasm. The proceedings of the Dharna was started under the joint presidium of Gurpreet Singh,President, (Sarpanch Daria), Baba Gurdial Singh Khudda Alisher, Baba Sadhu Singh Sarangpur, Baba Charan Singh Palsoura (All Patrons of PSCC). More than 400 villagers from 23 Villages took part in it.

The main resolution of the dharna was placed by Joginder Singh Burail, the General Secretary of PSCC. He explained the issues in details and put forwarded the ten most outstanding genuine,justified rural demands of the villages of Chandigarh. These demands are as follow:- demands regarding regularization of the construction outside the phirni (so-called Lal Dora) of the villages; demands regarding the withdrawal of "The Chandigarh Administration (Erection/re-erection of Building)-Rules-2013(Draft)" for the 21 villages of U. T. Chandigarh and withdrawal of "The Chandigarh Administration (Erection/re-erection of Building)-Rules-2006" being imposed on the ten villages of Chandigarh under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh; demands regarding status of mother language Punjabi ,demanding it as a state language of U. T. Chandigarh; demands regarding restoration of Panchayati Raj System for all the  U. T. Villages of Chandigarh; all demands regarding land and agriculture; demands regarding various issues concerning SCs/STc/OBCs  communities of the native residents of U.T. Chandigarh villages; demands regarding  10% reservation in jobs of all the government, semi-government and non-government departments for the rural youth and in admissions for all the academic institutes of U. T. Chandigarh for the rural students of the natives of the villages; all the demands for the comprehensive and all round growth and development of the villages and for the purpose, 25% of the Chandigarh budgets be spent on the villages; demands regarding exclusion of the two Chandigarh villages, namely, Khudda Alisher and Kaimbwala, from the Sukhna Catchment Area, Chandigarh; and demanded the immediate implementation of all the demands of "Pind Vasao Committee Chandigarh" concerning 11 villages ,which had been forcefully displaced by Chandigarh Administration during  1960-1974.

Followed by this resolution, many leaders of the rural people spoke on the occasion and condemned Chandigarh Administration for its indifferent attitude towards the long standing and genuine demands. They stressed that these rural demands should be accepted immediately.

Demand charter of the rural demands was also presented to The Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration by the delegation led by Gurpreet Singh, Joginder Singh, Surinder Singh, Inderjit Singh Grewal, Baba Sadhu Singh, Didar Singh, Namberdar Daljit Singh etc.
