Chandigarh 19th July:- Chandigarh Police put the 106 city seal nakas under the overall supervision of Parvinder Singh, IPS, SP/City on the intervening night of 18 & 19 July-2015. 38 outer Nakas and 68 inner Nakas were deployed from 11 PM to 2.30 AM and all vehicles were thoroughly checked. The checking of vehicles carried out under the direct supervision of 5 ASP/DSPs, 11 SHOs, 18 Inspectors and 15 In-charge Polices Posts. Total 9989 vehicles were checked, out of which 332 vehicles were issued challans for various traffic violations, 34 vehicles were impounded under the provision of Motor vehicle Act.
Simultaneously, nine special anti-drunken driving Nakas were also deployed by the Traffic Police along with 9 Traffic Marshals at various roads in city area from 11.30 PM to 2.30 AM. The total 110 Challans were issued by the Traffic Police, out of which 69 challans were issued for drunken driving and 41 challans for other Miscellaneous Traffic violations. 72 vehicles were impounded. During the campaign Fine Rs. 4200/- collected as compounding fee for on the spot payment. Such drive will continue in future also.
