Four weeks Tourism Police Training Programme Concludes at AIHM

Chandigarh 30th July:- A Four weeks Tourism Police Training Programme for the Chandigarh police personnel has been concluded today at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management. 30 Police Personnel were certified in this programme. The programme aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of Police in dealing with the tourists as well as general public. The valediction was chaired by the Honourable Chief Guest A.S. Cheema , IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, U.T Chandigarh. Ms Urvija Goel, IPS, SP/HQ & Operations & Training, Navdeep Singh Brar, IPS,   ASP/South, Ashwani Kumar, CPS, DSP Training & Recruitment were also present in the said occasion.

The chief guest A.S. Cheema addressed the successful trainees and shared his views. He said that this initiative is driven by the vision to see Chandigarh, the City Beautiful, develop to a level where its tourists can experience the hospitality in a safe & secure friendly environment. The potential has always been here in the city. The role is to ensure that the police personnel should instill the soft skills & guide the tourists so that it leads to the image building at a global level resulting in recurring tourist inflow for the city.

Mrs. Bharti Tyagi, Principal of the Institute highlighted the contents which were covered during the training programme. She also congratulated the faculty members who were actively involved in making this training a success.  She said that she sincerely hope that our contributions will be of great relevance and will be beneficial to all the participants when they go back to their work places. She is sure you would immediately put into practice the learning that has been imparted in the sessions. 

This was the third such program for Chandigarh Police personnel which aimed to concentrate on the needs of our tourists who travel long distances to reach our destination & experience the totality of the Indian culture, traditions, and gastronomic creations in a fully safe hospitable environment. The aspects like importance of personal grooming, hygiene & sanitation, behavior, communication skills, complaint handling, etiquettes and mannerism, human values, use of polite and courteous language, some common parlance sentences, phrases in various foreign languages in dealing with public and tourists, were covered in the training programme. It also emphasized on the range of tourists spots in and around the city beautiful.
