‘Pollyway’ organize a Special Screening of Short Film ‘Mitthhi’ and ‘Daughter of Bin’

Chandigarh 06^th June:- Associated with Punjabi entertainment world, the first ever database website 'Pollyway' organized a special screening of short film 'Mitthhi' directed by comedian and writer Rana Ranbir and renowned film maker Navtej Sandhu's short film 'Daughter of Bin' at Beant Singh Memorial Auditorium, Sector-42 today. Punjabi singer Pammi Bai, Binnu Dhillon, film director Pali Bhupinder Singh, actress Anita Shabdeesh, Dilkush Thind, writer Baljinder Singh Uppal,  Malkit Rauni, Director Darshan Darvesh, Avrinder Kaur and film director Gurchran Virk marked their presence on this occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, director of Pollyway Sapan Manchanda said that he is trying to make these kind of meaningful films reach more and more people. He said that there is a new era of short films coming up in Punjabi industry which has certainly made feature films seriously think on their subject matter. Sapan is also trying to preserve the history of Punjabi films.

Rana Ranbir 'Mitthhi' talks about the society's perception about girls. The film talks about the reactions of the society on female feticide and the modern lifestyle of girls. The story has been penned down by Puneet Kaur. The 27-minute long film stars Puneet Kaur, Raman Gill, Balwinder Singh, Roopi Maan, Dimpy Kaur and Nishaan Cheema in main characters. Rana Ranbir on this occasion said that he looks forward to give a meaningful message to the society with this film.

Director Navtej Sandhu's film 'Daughter of Bin' also made a mark in viewers' hearts. Based on theatre person Jatinder Brar's play, the film satires on society's thought about daughters. The film shows newly-born daughters being thrown in dustbins and also remarks on governmental policies. Both the films are actually trying to inspire people to change their mental state and open up their mind towards girls or girl child. Navtej Sandhu told that this is his third film after short films 'Nooran' and 'Kabaddi Deyodi' which made a presence at world-renowned Cannes Film Festival.

On this occasion film director and theatre person Prof. Pali Bhupinder Singh gave his take on both the films and urged viewers to discuss on the subject matter. He said that commercially these films have no future but these will certainly push people to think more than a book. In-charge of the auditorium Shahbaz Singh thanked all the guests and assured initiatives like these in coming future too.
