Chandigarh 05th June:- To commemorate World Environment Day Young Indians (Yi) Solan Chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry organised various activities here today, kicking off My Country Clean Country campaign of CII Yi. The objective was to raise global awareness, initiate positive environmental action in order to protect nature and the Planet Earth. Hundreds of employees of various CII Yi member companies like Alkem Laboratories and Godrej Consumer Products Ltd cleaned the streets and roads as well as pathways outside their factories. Interactive Street plays (Nukkar Nataks) were also staged by their employees on the theme of cleanliness and hygiene to spread awareness amongst the masses and residents. The citizens took keen interest in the plays and participated actively in the same. CII Yi also awarded 20 students who participated in the Poster Making Competitions in various Government Schools held earlier.
Manohar Tegta, Mentor, CII Yi Solan Chapter, shared that to celebrate World Environment Day themed Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care', CII Yi Solan Chapter organised the cleanliness drive, street plays and poster competitions to spread awareness about the same. He added that living within planetary boundaries is the most promising strategy for ensuring a healthy future. Human prosperity need not cost the earth. Living sustainably is about doing more and better with less. It is about knowing that rising rates of natural resource use and the environmental impacts that occur are not a necessary by-product of economic growth.
Vasu Trehan, Chair, CII Yi Solan Chapter said that the Young Indians (Yi) Solan Chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) would focus primarily on Swachh Bharat campaign during the whole year.
