Chandigarh 02nd April:- Max Super Speciality Hospital Saket today announced to tie up with Patiala Heart Institute Patiala to extend its healthcare services in city. While announcing this in a press conference at a hotel here today, Dr. S.K.S. Marya, Chairman & Chief Surgeon- Max Institute of Musculoskeletal Sciences at MSSH, Saket , Hari Boolchandani, Regional Head- Sales & Marketing at Max Healthcare and Dr G S Sidhu, Chairman and MD, Patiala Heart Institute said with this expertise in musculoskeletal sciences, the city residents would now not need to travel to the metro cities for availing basic consultation.

In commencement of this tie-up, Dr. S.K.S. Marya who hails from Patiala and is are renowned musculoskeletal surgeon of Delhi will be consulting patients suffering from hip and knee problems at Patiala Heart Institute on May 2 between 10am-2pm. He will also be conducting the hip and knee OPD in Patiala on every first Saturday of the month.

Dr S.K.S. Marya said that it would take 200 bones and 60 muscles for the human body to take one single step. It was crucial to ensure minimal wear and tear of each of these muscles and bones. For any nation to progress, it was important for its citizens to attain optimum bone health. Weak bones have the potential to create irreversible damage to an individual's professional and personal output. Unfortunately, musculoskeletal diseases have become a global epidemic which was affecting demographics across all age groups. He said further, in India, the most worrying issue was the patient's attitude towards musculoskeletal problems. By 2040 India would have 274% more people in the age group of 64 and above and hence the requirement for joint reconstructions would also be higher. They would usually come at a debilitating stage and try to postpone a joint reconstruction to the last stage possible.

He remarked that as compared to 2013, we witnessed an increase of approximately 25% in the number of patients reporting with musculoskeletal problems in 2014 and expects a further increase of approximately another 25% in 2015 as well. The need of the hour was to identify the factors responsible and create strategies at state and national level to address them. We have recently launched the Max Institute of Musculoskeletal Sciences at Max Hospital, Saket where we aimed to work in unison to advocate optimum bone health in the nation's population and offer the best expertise and high-end technologies to provide A-Z healthcare solutions for all kinds of bone, muscle and joint problems.

Hari Boolchandani said that in India, not many have access to essential healthcare services, and the growing population were seeking quality medical care across specialties. At Max Healthcare, our goal was to make specialized healthcare services accessible to all. With this vision in mind, we have launched services for the residents of Patiala.

Dr G S Sidhu said that it was a privilege to be associated with Max which was a flagship hospital and a renowned name in Delhi and NCR. We were sure that their medical expertise would significantly help the residents of Patiala and neighboring regions.
