By 121 News

Chandigarh 16th May:- In an example of rampart commercialism, many private hospitals in tricity are charging exponential amounts for simple diagnostic procedures for brain tumour, whereas this can easily be done in much lesser amount. What if you get to know that the tumour of your brain can be diagnosed without any major surgery and you can go home within 24 hours of the surgery. In CME, three topics are covered in which Stereotactic Biopsy procedure by Dr Tyagi, Resistant Hypertension by Dr Kulwant Singh, Consultant, Department of Nephrology and Management of Sepsis is explained by Dr Ashish Garg.

Now, this is possible through Stereotactic Brain Tumour Biopsy procedure in which a patient need not suffer the pain of 17-18 stitches in the head. A keyhole on the skull and frame needle would go inside the brain and takes the lesion.

Dr Deepak Tyagi, Neuro-Surgeon, Director, Mayo Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital and Ex-Neurosurgeon, PGIMER, Chandigarh said that this could happen with the help of CT SCAN. Explaining about the procedure, Dr Tyagi said that this is minimal invasive surgery called Stereotactic Brain Biopsy Procedure.

Explaining further, Dr Kulwant Singh, Senior Consultant, Nephrologist, MHSSH Mohali, said, that we took the initiative to do this CME with Mohali IMA physicians and make them aware of cost-effective surgeries because it is not a healthy practice for a hospital or a doctor to be money-minded all the time.

In CME, as many as 100 physicians participated and learnt about cost-effective surgeries and procedures. In CME, Dr Kulwant shared importance of Kidneys in human body and told about the management of Resistant hypertension.
