Soulful Melodic Flute Recital and Captivating Kathak Dances Light up Second day of Pracheen Kala Kendra festival.

Chandigarh 20th March:- The second day of 45th Pracheen Kala Kendra Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan witnessed a scintillating Sitar recital by Flute maestroRavinder Singh and a dazzling Kathak dance performance by Guru Gitanjali Lal and her troupe at the Tagore Theatre here today. The musical bonanza went on to a majestic melodic experience after the Kendra Chairman S.K. Monga IAS (Retd.), Mrs. Shobha Koser, Registrar, Pracheen Kala Kendra and Sh. Sajal Koser, Secretary lighted the traditional lamp.  

Carrying forward the melodic splendor of opening day the  Kirana ghrana flute maestro Ravinder Singh a commenced with a soulful recital of raag Kirwani on flute to mark day Two of the ongoing festival. Through a reposeful alaap he established the raga form and bared its melodic character  to perfection and embellished  with the crisp jod alaap before presenting a composition in Madhya laya set to Roopak tal  which later melted into  faster rhythmic pattern of Teen tal. With young  Punjab ghrana Tabla exponent Mehmood Khan the versatile maestro moved on to yet another raga ' Jansamohini' through a brief alaap. He doled out two compositions  in Madhya laya and   Roopak tal and another in Drut laya and teen tal. He concluded the captivating recital with a dhun in raga Mishar  Khamaj and Khemta tal. Displaying  a synchronization and chemistry the duo weaved out spontaneous melodic patterns , taans and improvisations to win  applause from  the audience .

The second session belonged to the Delhi based  classical Kathak virtuosos and disciples of reputed  Guru Gitanjali Lal including her son Abhimanyu Lal and his life and dance partner Vidha Lal and troupe . They  opened up with ' Shiv Shakti' , which  described the  persona of celestial  Lord Shiva through varied dance mudras  designed to show the Ganges flowing from his hair locks, with moon and stars as his ornaments , serpents around neck and the Trident and Damru in hands. Gitanjali choreographed Poet Dayanand Sarswati' composition in raga Bairagi.  

In the next item' Anadaz' young Kathak couple Vidha Lal  and Abhimanyu  Lal presented pure kathak syllables  before Guru Gitanjali Lal brought alive emotional aspect in her special choreography based on saint poet Surdas's ' Dekhi Jasumanti such paye' .

Like the first item the accomplished  dancers including Vidha Lal, Abhimanyu Lal,  Era Dogra, Vikasni Kanan, Varsha, Sakshi Vaid and Abhinav Mukherji  presented a concluding crisp ' Tarana' set to Ek tal in raga Darbari. Dancers displayed subtle moods, graceful movements  with sparkling footwork marked with agile pirouettes , all interpreting the concept and phrases of the Tarana much to delight of the audience.
