Rotary Clubs of Chandigarh Organise Felicitation function for World President of Rotary International for 2016-17

Chandigarh 10th February:- The world president of world's largest voluntary service organization, Rotary International, for the year 2016-17, John F. Germ and his wife Judy reached the city here today on a four-days visit. The Rotary clubs of Chandigarh tricity area organized a felicitation function at Hotel Taj to welcome them to the city and showcase some of the humanitarian projects that the local Rotary clubs had been engaged in.

Addressing the Rotarians John Germ said that for Rotary to thrive, members must face current and future challenges and opportunities with "passion, enthusiasm, perseverance, and above all, integrity." He added that he envision Rotary boldly and creatively engaging the success of polio eradication, membership and identity issues, strengthening clubs, work with youth – our future life-blood, and the creation of critical, strategic partnerships. John F. Germ said that Rotary will adapt to a rapidly changing world by embracing innovation within the guidelines of our tradition and values.  By aggressively embracing new technologies, social media, and new opportunities, individuals and businesses will see that Rotary helps promote a good civic and public image while adding credibility to their people.

Nearly 250 Rotarians from various part of this region attended the felicitation function. The choir of Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh sang the US and Indian national anthems, while two physically challenged boys, Sunil and Denis presented musical interlude at the function.  The function concluded with Bhangra performance by the Interactors of Ajit Karam Singh International Public School.

On Tuesday, John Germ would visit Fortis Hospital to meet eight children from Rwanda who are undergoing free heart surgery under the Rotary Heartline project of Rotary Club of Chandigarh, as also the Rotary's premier blood bank, Rotary Blood Bank Society Resource Centre, in Sector 37, to see the facilities, since John Germ also serves on the board of the Blood Assurance Inc, amongst many other organizations. He would also visit Ambala to see Rotary Cancer and General Hospital and the Rotary School for the Hearing Impaired. On Wednesday, John Germ and his wife Judy accompanied by past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo would visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, before flying back on Thursday, 12th February.
