Robofest 2015 Ends at Hallmark Public School

Mohali 13th February:-   Robofest 2015 ended with 10 teams of top schools competing in "PATHFINDER" -- the final competitive frontier of the festival, which witnessed students, showing their brain power & STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics subject)  skills, to beat one another with Robots programmed by team members in the age group of 9-16 years.The schools that took part in the intensely competitive finale were Manav Mangal, CL DAV Public School, New India Sr. Sec School, The Gurukul, New India High School(Pinjore), Hansraj Public school, Sec 6, Panchkula, DAV Sr Sec School, Sec 8, Panchkula, The Sky World School, St. Soldier Divine Public School & Holy Child School.

Mrs. Kavita Wadhwa, Principal, Hallmark Public School, said that though Hallmark's Ignited Minds teams' which have been constituted especially for Robotics competitions have been doing well consistently in Regional & National competitions, in Robofest 2015 no Hallmark team participated to keep the competition healthy as we were the hosts. However, our teams showcased their Robotics talent by displaying Touch Sensor & Ultrasonic sensorskills.

 Ms. Meena Vyas, Head Trainer, conducted the training programme on first two days of the festival and on the third day the grand finale was held. Judges B P Singh & Deepak Kharab from Lego gave marks to teams. The team that won the contest was Gurukul,Sec 20, First Runner Up was Manav Mangal and Second Runner Up was New India Sr. Sec School, Pinjore. Jivtesh Garg, Director, Hallmark Public School said, that they held Robofest 2015 to extend the opportunity to learn this academic skills based tech-sport -- Robotics to other students of various eminent schools as well. In the finale Robots constructed by different teams were made to complete a course or play field, which was divided into 5 sections without accumulating penalties, the playfield was strewn with obstacles. The team which completed the course in the least time & which got the maximum points was declared the winner.   

Lego Mindstorm Robotics Kits were used to construct the robot – 'Edu Bot' & these were also programmed by students using NXT-G software.Thereafter, testing of the programmed Robots was done and then Round 1 and Round 2 of the challenge were held. In the end an Award Ceremony was held to give away prizes to the victors. Trophies & certificates of merit were awarded individually to the winners of the fest, first & second runner ups. Participation certificates were given to all teams. Chief Guest on the occasion was Ghan Shyam Bansal, Deputy Director General, National Informatics Centre.
