Chandigarh 31st January:- A two day conference on "Current Trends and Genetics in Heart Failure and Cardiac Arrhythmias" has been organised by Indo-UK Genetic Education Forum and Cardiomyopathy Research Group, PGIMER Chandigarh from 31st to 1st Feb, 2015. The conference aims to provide a unique forum for clinicians and basic science researchers from different parts of the world to discuss genetic, clinical and molecular aspects of Cardiomyopathies, Heart Failure and Arrhythmias. Dr. K. K. Talwar, Chairman, Max healthcare, Delhi and Ex-Director PGIMER inaugurated the conference and highlighted the importance of genetic and genomic factors in cardiovascular diseases. He also emphasized on the inclusion of genetics based diagnosis in clinical settings. Dr. T.S. Rao, Scientific Advisor to DBT, New Delhi also insisted on the integration of genetics and medicine for improving human health.

The exciting scientific program included Keynote lectures, theme based symposia, oral and poster presentations on the genetic,  biomedical and clinical aspects of cardiovascular diseases including cardiomyopathies, heart failure, arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease, and myocardial infarction. Eminent scientists from various countries across the world delivered lucid lectures on genetics of congential heart diseases, inherited vascular disorders and Coronary artery diseases in this event. Distinguished cardiologist, Prof. Dhavender Kumar, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom discussed how the advanced technologies such as Next generation sequencing can be used to develop targeted multi-gene or genome wide diagnostic testing panels for accurate diagnosis and prognosis in diverse inherited cardiovascular disorders.
