Modern Cattle field at village Dau majra near Kharar proves very suitable for cattle trading: Sidhu

Chandigarh 18th January:- Modern cattle field constructed by Rural Development & Panchayat department at village Dau Majra near Kharar is very suitable place for cattle trading & is proving beneficial for traders as cattle trading being done at here is a routine. Stating this, Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that the field covers 11 acres of area & its construction costs Rs. 6 crore 44 lacs 82 thousand. The field proving too much beneficial for the farmers of nearby villages as now they need not to go anywhere else for livestock trading, instead they could find number of buyers easily at here.

Tejinder Pal Singh said that Govt. of Punjab is encouraging the livestock traders & farmers so that livestock in the state could be increased. He said the field thus constructed at village Dau Majra near kharar is having capacity for 700 to 1000 cattle at a time. To facilitate the traders, some special facilities have also been ensured in this filed. He said,that space availability for proper movement of cattle, office spaces, shower line, footpath, & loading- unloading ramps & other special arrangement have been ensured at here. Besides this, shops, toilets, drinking water facility & other basic amenities have been provided. Also the arrangement for veterinary hospital has been provided for sick animals.

Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that traditional crops are not so much beneficial for the farmers of Punjab; therefore they should adopt crop rotation & should take interest in other allied occupations. He said that farmers are being encouraged to adopt crop rotation & horticulture, on the other hand technical knowledge about the new methods is also being provided to farmers. He said that cattle's farming is proving very beneficial in district SAS Nagar, therefore farmers should prefer dairy farming & other allied occupations. This will help to improve their economic status. He also appealed to get the benefit of schemes being operated by Animal husbandry & dairy development department.
