Education Department Presents Cultural Bonanza on the Eve of Republic Day

Chandigarh 26th January:- A cultural Bonanza was presented by Education Department on the Eve of Republic Day on 25th January  at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. The worthy Chief Guest Vijay Kumar Dev, Adviser to the Administrator U.T., Chandigarh graced the occasion and delivered a very meaningful & enthusiastic speech and further stated that our children are our future . It is just in time that we pass on the responsibilities to our future. But to ensure this; we need to bring about radical changes in our educational system. Education is a great equalizer and can help achieve the pinnacles of professional , economic and social success . It is the bedrock of all social and economic development. It is the only tool that can eliminate the gaps that have made our society unequal. In Chandigarh, education is no longer the privilege of the elite, but a universal right. RTE is implemented in Chandigarh. Every school abides by it. A pilot project of Worksheets in all subjects has been undertaken.  The students of all Govt schools from Classes 1 to 5 will receive well planned, coloured worksheets to supplement the NCERT books. The Administration has also planned to open 6 new schools which will be fully equipped to meet the demands of the present times  and more new class rooms in existing schools are also in pipe line. The Swatch Bharat Abhiyan followed in true spirit in all schools in Chandigarh.

 The cultural programme started with a Ganesh Vandana performed by students of GGMSSS Sector-18.Other cultural performances included Bengali Dance by students of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti -25, Giddha by students of GHS  Dadumajra, Rajasthani Dance by students of Chitkara International School-25, Skit by students of GMSSS Sector16,  Haryanvi Dance by students of  Shishu Niketan School Sector -22, an Action Song by Manav Mangal School  Sector-21 and Bhangra performed by students of GMSSS Khuda Alisher.  Also present on the occasion were Finance cum Education Secretary Saravjit Singh, DPI Schools K.K Bhadoo among other officers of Chandigarh Administration.
