First Successful case of Robotic Surgery Conducted in PGI

Chandigarh 21st November:- First of its kind Robotic Assisted Surgery case successfully conducted by the surgeons team of Department of Urology, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The team of Surgeons lead by Prof. AK Mandal, Head, Dept. of Urology.  The operation performed is robotic assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty on a young man of 20 yrs.  He was suffering from congenial obstruction of the kidney causing recurrent pain.  If this diseases was not treated the kidney would have been gradually damaged.  The potential benefits of this advance technology are 3-dimensional magnified vision and precise tissue handling and suturing leading to early recovery and good outcome.  This facility will now be available at PGIMER on a regular basis."
