EDUCATION MINISTER ISSUES APPOINTMENT LETTERS TO 60 DEPENDENTS OF DECEASED IN-SERVICE EMPLOYEES

Mohali 18th November:- In a humanitarian endeavour, 60 family members and dependents of deceased former employees of the Punjab Education Board were inducted into the education system under various appointments. In a ceremony held here Education Minister, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema welcomed the new appointees and offered his support with a personal interaction with several new staff members. This move by the government aimed at providing some relief and consolation to those who had lost a near & dear one during their time as an active employee in the Punjab education system.

Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema personally distributed the appointment letters to the dependents of the deceased. Amongst those inducted, 15 have been appointed as clerks, 43 as senior lab attendants (SLA's) and 2 as library restorers (LR's). In addition to the appointments offered on compassionate grounds, Dr. Cheema went a step ahead by sanctioning on-demand posting allotments as per the personal preferences of the appointees. He issued strict instructions to senior officials to ensure that all such pending cases be resolved within 1 month and all those dependents of deceased employees seeking active employment be given their appointment letters immediately.

Dr. Daljit Cheema stated that no one can compensate for the loss of their loved one but the department considers them to be their responsibility and by inducting them into the system they are fulfilling their commitment. He interacted with the appointees personally and encouraged them to share their experiences and voice their grievances. He was made aware of the fact the some had to fight for their right for employment and wait for 2-3 years to get the appointment letters issued to them. Appalled at the dismal treatment having been wrongfully meted out to them, he assured them that all those responsible for the delay will be held accounted for and shall not be spared. He ordered for all such delayed case files to be brought before him for further inquiry. The Minister further encouraged the appointees to revert to him with their feedback and assured them that in case of any problems, they can freely contact the senior officials who have been instructed to address their concerns immediately. He announced that serious measures are being taken to minimize red-tapism in the department and said that he expected new appointees to work hard and with dedication for the betterment of the education system.
