Haryana Governor, inaugurates 18th CII Chandigarh Fair,

Chandigarh 17th October:-The 19th CII Chandigarh Fair, being organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), kicked off to a colourful start in Parade Ground, Sector 17, here today. The fair was Inaugurated by H.E Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, Haryana, and supported by Tata Motors and NABARD as the Event Co-Sponsors; Religare Health Insurance, BSNL and DHFL as the Principal Sponsors; Gionee Smartphone as the Associate Sponsors, Burj One as the Associate Co-Sponsor and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), the four day fair attracted huge crowds on the first day itself.

Prof Solanki said that with changing times, the consumers have become a lot smarter and demanding and Fests like CII Chandigarh Fair are a fantastic platform for them. During my round of the fair, I was delighted to see beautiful handicrafts, consumer durables, Diwali gifts, home décor items, special antique collection, processed foods, kitchen appliances and swanky cars etc at the fair. He further added that I appreciate CII for organising a fair that brings immense variety and top quality products from India and Abroad. The cultural evenings to be organised daily with elements of fun and frolic have added to the charm of festive season. CII, being and industry body should also promote corporates to work towards PM's Make in India campaign.

Darpan Kapoor, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Council & Vice Chairman, Kapsons Group said that the States of India Pavilion witnessed huge crowds right from the morning. Hundreds of artisans from Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Gujarat are showcasing their specialties in handicrafts, suits, sarees and other hosiery articles in addition to a variety of small and big interesting decoration and useful articles. The states of BiharTamil Nadu and Gujarat which are participating for the first time were elated at the response their products got.

The cultural evening programmes caught the fancy of both young and old alike. People danced as they shopped. Crowd almost danced to the tunes of the rock band and bhangra performances. The play on 'saving the girl child' to prevent female feoticide also impressed each one of the visitor. The CII Auto Show 2014 is featuring – Tata Motors, Maruti, Toyota, Chevrolet, Renault and Honda displaying their newly launched models and attractive offers at the Expo. The Realcon, featuring specially discounted offers from Chandigarh City Centre, DLF, Waves, Emaar MGF, Burj One, Sushma Buildtech & others also was a hit amongst tricity shoppers. UCO Bank has launched a unique deposit scheme giving 9 – 9.5 % interest on deposits for 1000 days, the maximum by any standards. Schemes of other banks range from 300 – 400 days.

As usual, the International Arcade was also jampacked too. Exclusive range of home appliances from ChicagoUSA have also added spark to the fest, in addition to special quilts and blankets from Korea and carpets, handicrafts, utility items, home decoration furniture & furnishings, special dry fruits etc from UAE, and Thailand. Exhibitors from Korea, UAE and Chicago, USA are participating for the first time.  Thailand has five stalls with their special products – lampshades, decoration pieces, flowers, ladies' purses, butterfly hairclips, keychains etc. Around 20 companies from Pakistan are displaying their exclusive range of products ranging from designer garments to hand-woven carpets, handicrafts and onyx marble products, beautiful designer and cotton suits, handmade carpets, bags, purses, antique pieces, transparent decoration pieces made of Onyx stone and dry fruits etc.

 Laieq Ahmed, Sitwat Marbles, Karachi, said, that we have been associated with the CII Chandigarh Fair since 2002 and it is the immense love and over-whelming response of Indian art lovers that brings us back to this fest year after year. Besides the usual range of Onyx (Precious gemstone) cutlery and decorative items, we have brought an exclusive range of Giant Flower vases, which would cost around Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand per piece. Lotus Egypt has brought Irani saffron which is good for heart, skin, brain and enhances glow on face from Pakistan. Priced at Rs 630 per 5 kg, Zubeda Basmati looks like Mini Noodles and is catching a fancy of the visitors. Nadeem Enterprises' Onyx marble decorative pieces which are hand made and transparent, made out of single marble piece are attracting lot of visitors as well. Its price range from Rs 100 to 4 lacs. It has various shapes like tiger costing 85,000 per piece, pair of beer costing Rs 4 lacs.
