Gurukul Vidyapeeth Organises Traffic Awareness Rally on The occassion of Karwachauth

Chandigarh 11th October:- To make the city roads safer and to motivate women two-wheeler drivers to wear helmets, Gurukul Vidyapeeth Institute of Engg. & Technology,Banur today conducted an awareness campaign on occasion of Karwa Chauth. As many a 50 students along with Banners & placards participated in this day-long campaign at city's busy traffic junctions and gave gifts to women drivers wearing helmets. Also, women not wearing helmets were given brochures highlighting the need of safe driving. Honorable .  Maninder Singh, SHO Sector- 34, was the Chief Guest. He inaugurated the campaign and presented free helmets to women drivers who were not wearing helmets. He lauded the efforts of students and faculty of Gurukul Vidyapeeth in bringing this much needed traffic awareness among the women of the city.  On this occasion almost 50 Helmets distributed.

 Women should protect their head while riding two wheelers. Motorcycle helmets are one of the most important considerations of all safety concerns, especially considering the current statistics which state that brain injury is one of the most dominant causes of motorcycle fatalities. Realizing this importance can make wearing helmets easier to accept psychologically, as many current riders currently have a mental block and choose not to wear them. Students of Gurukul Vidyapeeth have chosen auspicious occasion of Karva Chauth to sensitize women, both, the riders as well as the pillion riders of city beautiful about benefits of wearing helmets.

 CA Manmohan Kumar Garg, Chairman, Gurukul Vidyapeeth, who was present during the inauguration said, "The purpose of this campaign is to spread message on this day when women fast for long life of their husbands that long life of our women is equally important and utmost care must be taken to save it. He also applauded the city traffic police for their sincere efforts for making the city roads safe. He also appealed the people of the city to cooperate with the administration for its projects for the betterment of the city."

Ramanjeet Singh, Additional Director, Gurukul Vidyapeeth of the organization stated that it's the consecutive fifth year that we have undertaken such and initiative of traffic awareness for women. He further said. "A total of 4000 brochures and 200 gifts were distributed during this campaign." Pillion riders not wearing helmets were also covered. He thanks the Chandigarh Police for supporting the projects undertaken by Gurukul Vidyapeeth under its Corporate Social Responsibility.
