Goa Institute of Management Appoints Dr. C. Joe Arun, SJ as New Director

Chandigarh 15th October:- Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has recently appointed Dr. C. Joe Arun, SJ. as the new Director of the management institute effective 30th August 2014.  Dr Joe Arun was selected by the Search Committee of the Board of GIM. A Jesuit priest, Dr. C. Joe Arun, SJ. completed his PhD from Oxford University prior to completing an MBA from IIBM, Delhi. Prior to joining GIM, Dr Arun, SJ. headed Loyola College, Chennai as Secretary & Correspondent, and later served as Director, Xavier Institute of Business Administration (XIBA), St Xavier's College, Palayamkottai, Tamil Nadu, that he was instrumental in building the MBA school single-handedly and elevating it to a significant position in the southern Tamil Nadu.

He co-founded the unique Institute of Dialogue with Cultures and Religions (IDCR), an Institute that researched into issues of conflict in religions and cultures and evolved conflict resolutions. Currently it is a research institute affiliated to Madras University, as a PhD level research institute. He was an approved guide of eight PhD students who were writing PhD theses in culture and management.  He played a key role at Loyola College, Chennai, led 300-plus faculty and 230-plus non-teaching staff in 32 departments and 15 institutes to optimum level of performance; restructured its financial system, reorganised human resources, enhanced the infrastructure and brought all the activities under ERP system. He also wrote the Master Plan for Loyola College envisioning a future for the institute. He has also worked as a Strategic Consultant to Indev Logistics to evolve strategies for training competent people to handle CFS in India and abroad and as CEO for SCAD group of institutions in Tirunelveli to expand its investment in educational institutions and develop a professional system of administration. Dr. Arun, SJ. has done extensive research in the areas of culture, consumer culture, cross-cultural management, conflict and identity construction and other related areas.

Dr C Joe Arun, SJ. on his appointment at GIM,  said that Goa Institute of Management uniquely stands above the rest in its perspective to management education in which ethics and values form the core of learning process. Academic rigour, discipline, research, placement, and international networking will be major key areas we will focus on. We want GIM to become repository of knowledge for and about Goa. When an investor intends to start a business in Goa, he should visit first  at GIM.
