Mohali 20th June:- First phase of providing water supply scheme under World Bank Project has been completed in the district SAS Nagar, wherein rural water supply schemes worth Rs. 36 crore 31 lacs 64 thousand have been provided in 97 villages of the district. Explaining this, Executive Engineer WSS Division no. 3, SAS nagar Sukhvinder Singh Pandher said that the schemes has been commissioned on 70ltrs per capita per day basis.
Sukhvinder Singh Pandher said that in Dera Bassi Sub Division under World Bank Project water supply schemes worth Rs. 19 crore 68 lacs 71 thousand have been provided in 49 villages and in Kharar sub division the schemes worth Rs. 16 crore 72 lacs 93 thousand have been provided in 48 villages. He said that very soon SAS Nagar will be the first district of Punjab state having separate water supply scheme for each village. He said that by establishing individual water supply schemes, safe drinking water will be made available to the villagers. Each & every village is being connected through these water supply schemes.
He said that besides providing safe drinking water, the work for fixing water meters will also be completed very soon. By providing metered water supply the water will be used efficiently & it will also reduce the wastage of water. Sukhvinder Singh Pandher said that in Dera Bassi Sub division the work for laying sewerage has also been started in various villages namely Jaula Kalan, Bhagsi & Mukandpur. Rs. 4 crore 94 lacs 48 thousands are being spent for the same. He said that for establishing Sewerage Treatment Plant at village Joula kalan Rs. 1 crore 86 lacs 73 thousand are being spent & for village Bhagsi Rs. 1 crore 21 lacs 49 thousands are being spent. Meanwhile for village Mukandpur Rs. 1 crore 86 lacs 26 thousands are being spent for establishing the Sewerage Treatment Plant.
