PUNJAB TO ENSURE TOTAL TRANSPARENCY IN FUNDING PANCHAYATS- MALUKA

Mohali 17th June:-- The Punjab government has drawn up a comprehensive programme to ensure total transparency in the funding of Panchayats and ensure audit of every penny spent by Panchayats during last three years. This was disclosed by Sikander Singh Maluka, Rural Development & Panchayat Minister. He said that the department has already given final touches to the proposals of e-Panchayats to bring total transparency in the working of Panchayats. He said that the state government had already ordered digital mapping of villages to save the Panchayat lands from illegal encroachment.         

 After reviewing various schemes for Rural Development he stressed on over all development of villages. He also added that hardworking, diligent and honest official will be rewarded whereas negligent and careless officials will be strictly treated. He said there will be no limitations as funds are concerned because of NDA government in power. Talking about contaminated Pond water he said that this water should be treated and should be used for animals and irrigation and parks and lawns are to be laid down.  He further added that funds will also be provided to construct toilets for the poor, Auction of the Shamlat land shall be undertaken in transparent and proper manner so that it could be leased at Market value. Government will also provide one tube well connections for 5 to 10 acre shamlat land. The Carcass place (Hadda Rodi) shall be at block level instead of village level and this scheme shall be launched from Rampura Phull. Purchase of bricks and other material used for construction will be purchased on Market rates. For the conveniences of the people he instructed district officers to be present on Monday and Wednesday at their respective offices.
