By 1 2 1 News Reporter

Chandigarh 14th June:- The Friday the 13th is considered to be the day of witches, demons and ghosts, but members of the CATS (Chandigarh Adventure Treks and Sports), and Can&Will Foundation turned it into an opportunity to "break the jinx", as Supreet Dhiman would like to call it.

Can&Will Foundation and the CATS had been organising blood donation camp to support the need for blood in the city,  every three months, and this is the 19th edition, told Supreet Dhiman, who heads both the Foundation and the adventure group, CATS. 75 volunteers donated blood today at the camp. Supreet Dhiman said that the camp was organised to celebrate the World Blood Donors' Day which falls on 14th June. Our members join in with enthusiasm every time to celebrate life, and give this precious gift of life to the people they don't even know, she said.

Dr. Manish Rai, Director of Rotary Blood Bank said that the demand for blood increases immensely during summers and therefore there is dire need for more people to come forward and donate blood.  The camp organised at Rotary Blood Bank Society Resource Centre in Sector 37, started at 9am with people tropping in throughout the day.

The fun-element was added as many of them dressed up with masks, tattoos, wearing horns, as they joyfully bled for a selfless cause, especially "Safe Blood for Saving Mothers", which is the focus this year.  According to WHO almost 800 women die every day from causes related to complications of pregnancy and childbirth which is the single biggest cause of maternal death and can kill a healthy woman within 2 hours if she is unattended.
