Chandigarh 25th March:-- The big agenda of the next Government who so ever it is should be targeted towards reviving the business confidence. Longevity & timely implementation as also actioning of policies, fast tracking of the stalled infrastructure as well as manufacturing projects, removal of various procedural and other bottlenecks associated with key Industrial and freight corridors like AKIC, DMIC, western and eastern corridors will provide the much needed fillip to growth in north. emphasised Zubin Irani, newly elected Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, while addressing his maiden Press Conference at CII NR Headquarters in Sector 31 A, here today.

Zubin Irani, said that CII has also interacted with all the Political Parties across centre and states and shared its inputs for inclusion in their Manifestos. The mission statement is to ‘empower all Indians to build an Inclusive, Developed and Secure Nation with focus on healthcare, education, skill development, sustainability, innovation, creativity, R&D and innovation. He added that the Investment rate at around 31% still remains sufficient which is good enough for growth of 7% - 8%, what is required now is to enhance efficiency and productivity level to enhance Incremental Capital Output Ratio. For this, CII advocates for debottlenecking of the regulatory environment, essential to fast track held up projects both in infrastructure and manufacturing space, technology up gradation, robust infrastructure and latest mechanisms & processes to get the maximum returns on the Investments. He further informed that against this backdrop, we at CII Northern Region have adopted ‘Accelerating Growth in North: Facilitating Investments …Creating Employment’ as theme for the year 2014-15. We believe that accelerating the growth process may provide employment avenues to millions, leading to accomplishment of our overall goal of attaining long term inclusivity, sustainable growth & social development for the states, the region and the country as a whole, emphasized  Zubin Irani.

CII believes that manufacturing has a great potential in the region and investments can be attracted through speedy implementation of Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) i.e Eastern & Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).  CII has proactively taken up with the government key stalled projects in infrastructure space (greater than 1,000 cr) with Cabinet Committee on Investments (CCI). These projects were impacted by bottlenecks such as land and other regulatory or environmental clearances. CII will continue to work aggressively with the government, both states & centre for their speedy implementation,he added. “North is hub of the MSMEs which is the most critical contributors & vehicles for economic development, job creation and inclusive growth. So, CII is launching four clusters in north at - Jaipur, Jalandhar, Baddi and Mandi Gobindgarh to enhance MSMEs competitiveness. Our counsellors would survey these industries and ascertain the various trades in which these clusters would run. The trades could range from light engineering, electrical, mechanical, auto components to textile, rubber or others. These would be multi product clusters. These clusters will guide and help the MSMEs to focus on adoption of automation and latest technologies. It would also bring down their factor costs while enhancing productivity and quality”, he added.  “There is no alternative to a strong manufacturing sector in creation of millions of jobs required in the country and also to leverage the vibrant young population. Each 1% increase in manufacturing growth creates 20-30 million jobs directly or indirectly.
