By 121 News Reporter

Chandigarh 13th February:---- Hallmark Public School, Panchkula organised  “Resonanz 2014” -- a Creative Cultural Extravaganza to mark the Annual Day Celebrations of the School at the Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. The programme was aptly titled RESONANZ 2014 as its content resonated the achievements, talent and the learnings imbibed by students at school. The Chief Guest at the function was Dharam Vir, IAS (Retd.), State Election Commissioner, Haryana. The soirĂ©e started with a captivating Aradhana, Ganesh, Ganesh Vandana, Sarawati Vandana and Shiv Classical Dance. A live cultural programme put together by students of play class right up to the highest classes showcased was a great draw. The ‘Hoops Acro’ by play class and ‘Hula Bloom’ by Nursery was a pretty picture. The ‘Angel Wonderland’ offering and ‘Itni si hassi’ by Lower and Upper Kinder Garten children was also well appreciated. In ‘Sufi Rangeelae’, students; displayed some simple yet expressive movements that are an intrinsic part of the 'Sufi' style. A screening of the film "Tryst With Destiny" was also held. It is noteworthy that this film was the entry of Hallmark School in the Delhi Short International Film Festival (DSIFF)-2013 and won the First Prize. A roll of Honour and Mementoes presentation ceremony was also held.

Jivtesh Garg, Director, Hallmark Public School, Panchkula said that the highlight of the presentation was ‘Gagan Damama Baajyo’, a play of 30 minutes which is scripted by Piyush Mishra, well known film and theatre actor, music director, lyricist, singer-scriptwriter  and had the ‘boom’ of the voice-overs of the school’s fifty children from Classes 5 to 9 who staged it. Its story revolved around mainly the great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and others who took up cudgels against the oppressive British regime, While most events of this nature focus on just dance items, music, songs and some have plays revolving around mundane topics, we thought of doing a theatrical presentation with a difference. The play was an important part of the Annual Day celebration as we wanted to bring to mind of the audience the martyrs of our freedom struggle lest they are forgotten.  It was an emotional rendition and the brave freedom fighters were shown poking fun at the British Raj. Many facets about that era, generally unknown, were shown to the audience.

According to Mrs. Kavita Wadhwa, Principal, Hallmark Public School, Panchkula, that they try to hold annual functions that are meaningful. A lot of attention goes into deciding what finally becomes part of the event. Special care is taken to do things that reflect the school’s credo and quality of education imparted by it. At Hallmark we keep students abreast of the latest in the field of academics but also encourage them to participate in dramatics and other fine arts as part of their extra curriculum. This way a student develops an all round personality, thereby making him or her a better human being. The other major attraction certainly was ‘Pind Mast Malang’, in which Punjabi folk dance forms --Ludi, Dandas, Jindua and Jhummar were put on show by students. Normally traditional dances are performed at school events on recorded music but during Resonanz 2014, the Punjabi folk lore was on live music belted out on Original Punjabi folk Instruments like Tumbi, Dhol, Chimta, Chilgoza.
