CII defeats INSCOL By 12 Runs In CII - ATS Corporate Sports League 2014

Chandigarh 20th February:---- Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) defeated INSCOL Hospital by 12 runs in an exciting nail biting match of the ongoing CII – ATS Corporate Sports League 2014, being organised by CII Yi Solan Chapter and ATS Infra Ltd. The match was played at Barwala Cricket Grounds, here today. Team CII won the toss and elected to bat first. CII scored 125 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in its allotted 20 overs, backed by a superb knock by Nishant Tinna, scoring 74 runs off 53 balls, studded with 11 boundaries. Surinder Pal Singh chipped in with 35 off 40 balls, including 4 boundaries. Pawan from INSCOL grabbed two wickets and Arvind scalped one in their allotted 4 overs.

In reply, INSCOL fought well but fell short by 12 runs, losing all its wickets at 113 runs in 18.2 overs. Rajesh top scored with 26 off 21 balls while Raj Kumar supported with 18(15). INSCOL kept the strike rate up but wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals, courtesy CII’s brilliant bowling tactics. From CII, Nishant Sharma bowled well and grabbed 3 wickets, while Vishal Beri and Pawan took two wickets each.

In another match, FIAT Metro Motors thrashed IMTECH by a comprehensively by 9 wickets.  FIAT Metro Motors won the toss and elected to field. Batting first, IMTECH were bundled out for a paltry score of 31 runs in 11.5 overs. None of its batmen could even manage to enter double digit score. From FIAT Metro, Ajay Rawat bowled superbly, grabbing 5 wickets to set the stage for his team’s victory. Himanshu also took 2 crucial wickets.

Batting second, FIAT Metro chased the meagre target of 32 in 5 overs with Lalit Bindra scoring 16 runs off 20 balls. Kapil from IMTECH took one wicket.Spread over two months, the league will comprise three sports namely - Cricket, Badminton and Table Tennis. Matches for all the sports would be played on league cum knock out basis.

21 teams are fighting it out for the Cricket trophy, 30 players would take part in Badminton Singles Championship while 20 teams would play the Badminton Doubles competition and 25 players would strive for the Table Tennis (TT) trophy whereas 20 teams would play the TT doubles championship.
