Lab Investigation Module Inaugurated

Chandigarh 09th December:--- In another effort to take Hospital Information System forward, PGI has been focusing on implementing the computerized patient related services. Prof. Y.K.Chawla, Director PGIMER inaugurated the Lab Investigation module (LIS Software) for automating workflow of the Biochemistry Lab of New OPD on 9th December, 2013. This lab caters to a major proportion of the Biochemistry investigation/tests being undertaken by PGIMER. With the launch of the software module, reports of the tests handled by the biochemistry lab will be available for   viewing of clinicians from anywhere in the Institute. Patients will get respite from difficult task of tracking the paper based lab investigation report for Biochemistry Tests. An SMS facility will also be soon introduced for informing the patients as and when their reports become ready and the same would also be available  on  website in the future, thereby reduction the number of visits of patients to the lab. Moreover, the software will also complement functioning of the lab as all activities right from ordering lab test through sample acceptance, fetching report from Machine and generating report will be done though software. Other Labs would be taken up subsequently. Lab Investigation Module is part Hospital Information System (HIS) being implemented in the Institute. This software has been developed by M/s CDAC, Noida and being implemented through Computer Section of the Institute. Dr Arnab Pal (Biochemistry) and Dr Bikash Medhi from Hospital Administration have extended their full cooperation in the speedy implementation of LIS.

Prof. R. Prasad, Head, Department of Biochemistry, Prof. Y.L Narayana (Vice Chairman, Computerization Monitoring Committee), Sh. Chetan PS Rao (Deputy Director Admin) and other Faculty members from Biochemistry lab, Sh. Naveen Bindra (System Analyst) & Staff of Computer Section were present on this occasion.
