Chandigarh 23rd November:--- A combined anti encroachment drive was conducted by Sanitation and Enforcement departments of Municipal Corporation today in industrial area phase-I and removed 50 sign boards/hoardings under section 5 of the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order 1954 displayed by showroom holders in the industrial area Phase-I, here for violating the provisions of the Advertisement Control Order.
The drive was carried out after a meeting of all the officers was convened by V.P. Singh, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation. During the drive Dr. B.K. Salwan, Medical Officer of Health, Kashmira Singh, superintendent and other sub inspectors of the enforcement wing were present. During the course of drive the team removed sign boards including various advertisements of automobile companies etc. from the front sides of showrooms. The defaulters had been asked time and again to remove the hoardings and Advertisements failing which, the same have been removed at the cost of owner/occupier and the material/articles used for the said advertisement/sky/signs have been confiscated. Such type of drives will also be carried out for violations under provisions of the Advertisement Control Order in other markets also. In addition to that 40 two wheelers have also been impounded and lifted from the roadside of the showrooms. Near about 7 defaulters have been challaned for under sanitation bylaws by the sanitation department of MC.
