PHD Chamber Organise Workshop on Lean Six Sigma

Chandigarh 16th October:--- PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in association with IILM- Institute for Higher Education organized a workshop on "Lean Six Sigma" at PHD House, Chandigarh.

 

Welcoming the experts and participants, Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber said in today's era of global competition and rapid technological advancements, staying competitive is not an easy task. Organizations are implementing quality systems to streamline their operators, and processes, in an attempt to improve the services that organization provide to their customers at more competitive cost. 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anupama Prashar, Faculty member from IILM Institute for Higher Education said Delays, defects and variations as three big leaks of business and suggested measures to plug them through Lean and Six sigma approach. She said Lean accelerates Six Sigma, delivers greater results than what would typically be achieved by Lean or Six Sigma individually. Combining these two methods gives a comprehensive tool set to increase the speed and effectiveness of any process within an organization – resulting in increased revenue, reduced costs and improved collaboration. She further elaborated step-by-step roadmap of Six Sigma DMAIC process (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control). She highlighted the proven benefits to organization like Bottom line cost savings (5%-20% of turnover per annum); Improved quality of product or service as perceived by the customer (internal and external customers) and reduction in process cycle times. She elucidated it offers lot of benefits to an individual in the form of improved knowledge and skills; ability to use a wide range of tools and techniques to identify and rectify the process gaps.

 

Taking the session further, Ms Ranjani Matta, Faculty member from IILM Institute for Higher Education explained the concept and principals of lean. She said those organisations that implement Lean and Six Sigma correctly achieve significant benefits and contribute to competitive advantage from reactive problem solving to proactive problem prevention.  She further stated that Lean Six Sigma increases an organization's revenue by streamlining processes that result in products or services that are completed faster and more efficiently at no cost to quality. She stated Lean Six Sigma increases revenue by enabling your organization to do more with less – Sell, manufacture and provide more products or services using fewer resources.  It also enables to remove waste from a process and fix processes that cost organization's valuable resources.
