While addressing the gathering, Education Secretary congratulated all awardees and appreciated their contribution to the cause of education. He also said, "To my mind, teaching infact is not a job, it is an attitude. A teacher is a source of information, a guide, a mentor and a motivator. I take pride in congratulating the teachers of this city who are setting new standards in improving the quality of education, which is rich in values and modern in its contents." He also said that in the fast changing world, teachers need to equip themselves with the latest electronic tools but at the same time enable the students to discover their hidden talent, to develop their interpersonal skills and subject matter expertise. We know that learning is no longer confined to classroom based curriculum. We are adapting new technology and innovative teaching aids with the help of the teachers and have implemented the Right to Education Act.  The private sector and the NGO'S have also taken excellent initiative in opening new vistas for teachers to sharpen their skills in the present education environment. So my message to the teachers is to follow the path of continuous learning as quoting Dr. Radhakrishnan "When we think we know we cease to learn". He further added that Education is the most effective strategy which will enable our students to thrive in this world and is the most precious gift which we can give to our younger generation.  None of the achievers in this world has attained a feat without the guidance of a teacher
