MC Starts Stray Cattle Catching Drive : 146 Stray Cattle Impounded

Chandigarh 23rd August:----After getting a serios note of 3 deaths in a row due to Cattel menace. A Special Stray Cattle Catching Drive was launched today in Mauli Jagran, Shastri Nagar, Bapu Dham Colony and, Nehru Colony, Sector 48, 49 & 50, Village Kajheri. During the drive 146 stray cattle were impounded by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh from Municipal limits.

Around 140 persons from Municipal Corporation including staff of Medical Officer of  Health, Enforcement and road wing alongwith nearly 100 policemen carried out this drive and impounded 146 cattle i.e. 93 from Bapu Dham Colony and adjoining areas, 15 from Mauli Jagran and 38 from sector 48, 49 & 50, Nehru Colony and area adjoining Kajheri village. These cattle impounded will not be released as keeping of animals within the Municipal Limits is not permissible.  The report against the owners of these cattle will be lodged with the police under whom there is a provision of imprisonment also.

The Commissioner Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has formed four teams for catching the cattle roaming on roads throughout day and wee hours in the morning under the supervision of Sunil Bhatia, Additional Commissioner, Rajiv Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Dr. B.K. Salwan, Medical Officer of Health, Dr. M.S. Kamboj, Superintendent, Slaughter House, Kashmira Singh, Superintendent Enforcement, Chief Sanitary Inspectors, Sanitary Inspectors, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
