Haryana Government Distributes Grants of Rs. 10.52 crore under Ladli Scheme

Chandigarh, 26th August:-- Haryana Government has distributed Grants  a sum of over Rs. 10.52 crore during the current financial year under Ladli Scheme aimed at balancing the sex ratio of the state. Under this scheme as many as 14,054 beneficiaries including 3,396 new beneficiaries have so far been benefited.
While stating this here today, Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that Ladli scheme is being implemented in Haryana since year 2005-06 to arrest declining sex ratio and to create positive bias in favour of second   daughter in the family. Under this scheme, a grant of Rs.5000 per year per family is being given on the birth of second daughter in a family for five years. The government is investing this amount in insurance scheme of LIC. The amount of about Rs. one lakh at current rates of interest is being paid after the second daughter attains the age of 18 years through LIC.
 The Minister said that grant of about Rs. 69.82 crore had been released to 32,832 beneficiaries during last financial year under the scheme.
