Sukhbir congratulates people for their overwhelming participation in Panchayat Poll

Chandigarh,03rd July--:lShiromani Akali Dal President and Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbir Badal today thanks the mature electorates of Punjab for their overwhelming and peaceful participation in Panchayat Polls conducted in 13060 villages of the state.
In a statement issued here today the President Shiromani Akali Dal said that by registering more than 80 percent participation in the rural heartland of Punjab, the people of Punjab have slapped on the face of those Congress leaders, who were running from one court to another court to get the elections scuttled for countermanded. He said that People of Punjab has now become mature enough to see through the mechanizations of Congress leaders, who have consistently lost series of elections in Punjab, exposing their 'Zero Base' in the state. Badal said that PPCC President Partap Singh Bajwa in a vain bid to save his chair went to Punjab and Haryana High Court to scuttle the elections but had to face the music of the people in these elections. The SAD President said that so called 'Paper Tigers' of the Congress Party known for issuing daily statements on any topic under the sun rushed from one officer to another officer to get the elections countermanded in his villages, as a face saving measure. 
Asking Congress Party to pack up its baggage from the State, Badal advised them that in a democratic polity no political party can survive by running away from electoral battles. Badal said that Punjab has a history of peaceful conduct of polls despite grave provocations from the Congress and he was happy that by enthusiastic and peaceful participation in Panchayat Polls, the electorates of Punjab has exposed the vicious propaganda of Congress Party regarding law and order in the state. Badal said also congratulated State Election Commission, State Officials and Law and Order machinery for smoothly conducting this marathon exercise of Indian democracy that is all set to strengthen our Panchayat bodies.

Reiterating his commitment to continue with Development agenda set for the state, Badal said that he only believed in achieving the targets on the development fronts rather than joining issues with Congress leaders rendered unemployed by the vibrant and mature electorates of Punjab. Badal said that the SAD-BJP Government is committed to realize their dreams to make Punjab a No. 1 state in the country.
