Chandigarh, 04th July:-- Japanese auto major Nissan launched a new refreshing look for its Micra car today along with a new variant called Micra Active. The new Micra come with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) gearbox, offering better fuel efficiency and city driving experience. The company also launched an automatic variant; it said in a statement. The Micra Active is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine that is reported to have a fuel efficiency of 19.49 kmpl.
Nitish Tipnish, Director, Sales and Marketing, Nissan said that "With the launch of the new Micra, our target is the 20-40 year old people looking for a advanced hatchback that offers comfortable space, user friendly features and a safe driving experience. We currently have 55 dealers' pan-India and plan to take this number to 300 by 2016,"
Ajay Raghuvanshi, Vice President, Business Management, Nissan said that India was a very important market for the company as even though the auto industry is facing a decline, Indian market shows promise of speedy recovery unlike foreign markets like US and Europe that are facing a massive economic slowdown. "The current growth in sales for the Micra is 35% and with the current launches, we are estimating this percentage to reach 50. We are currently working on diversifying our portfolio in the country and so will launch 10 new models by 2016. We will be launching Nissan Terrano later this year and have plans of launching Datsun, the much talked about MUV, next year,"
