Music Marathon aims to enter Limca Book of Records

By 1 2 1 News Reporter
Chandigarg 07th July:--Music speaks a universal language and appeals to all irrespective of colour, caste, religion, creed or nationality and this is the reason why the event was shown a lot of keenness by people, which made it a success.
Elante Mall played host to a 'Music Marathon' set to break a Limca Book of World record set in 2012 for 12 hours of non-stop back to back singing. Starting at 8:30 am on July 6, the event continues till 10:30 pm.
Once a song ended, another singer started singing the next one. The rule was not to have a gap of more than 10 minutes between the end of a song and the start of a new one. The monotony of 'just vocals' was broken by bands which were specially called in to perform and provide an interesting continuity to the record breaking attempt.
There were nine bands that enthralled the audience, Street Jammers, Aayat,Green Chorus, Four Strings, Pratyaksh, Desire, Take Off, Neon Street all gave scintillating performances. The event also saw participation from luminaries like Amy Virk, Jassi Jasraj, Rimz J, Mangi Mehal. The bands played out foot tapping numbers and their original compositions setting the tempo for breaking the Limca Book of World Record in the category of non –stop, back-to-back singing.
Azad Hind band and orchestra also played quite an instrumental role in maintaining the continuity of the music for 14 hours.
According to Abhilash Dave, organiser of the event, "The idea was to bring forth a platform for people that allowed them to participate in a musical extravaganza that gave them something to aspire for. It's not every day that you create history and I am sure this will fondly be remembered by all those who witnessed and participated in it."
It was a treat to see professional, amateur and even bathroom singers take charge of the mike and open up to enthuse an attentive audience at Elante Mall.
Popular Radio Jockeys were present during the occasion and were seen egging on people to participate in the unique activity.
The echo of the music which reverberated in the mall will be felt for a long time, after-all it brought people from all walks of life together on one platform, for a very interesting purpose.
